Fran Ferguson is a compassionate, supportive listener with a gentle sense of humor and solid therapeutic skills which she brings to her private practice as a Registered Clinical Counsellor. She offers counselling services to individuals, couples, and families in the Comox Valley and Campbell River, on Vancouver Island.
For fifteen years, Fran has helped both men and women solve personal problems, improve communication, and learn valuable coping skills in a safe, positive and supportive environment. Clients are supported to create the kinds of changes they want for their lives and their relationships.
Fran also works extensively with couples, to help people get unstuck from old patterns, learn tools to improve communication, and to deepen loving connection. Fran helps couples create the kind of relationship they've always dreamed about.
Although we sometimes think the solutions to our problems are outside of ourselves, the answers are often discovered through the telling of our own stories. By talking about our life situation and who we are within our present circumstances, we begin to see a way through the anxiety, worry, and strained relationships that may be troubling us. As we experience a safe, supportive environment with empathy, compassion, and respect, we begin to see the dance of negative patterns in our life -- how past events may still be influencing the way we live, our relationships, and the decisions we make.
Counseling doesn’t make our problems disappear, but it does create space for something different to happen in our lives. Fran works with clients to give us the freedom to replace reactions we’ve had in the past with new responses and to make better choices that support the direction that we want our lives to take... and gives us the tools to get there!
Counselling can teach us how to care for ourselves and our emotions, reduce and redirect stress and anxiety into energy and enthusiasm, and to communicate more openly and honestly with others. These skills enrich our entire being, relationships with others, and help us to build more successful lives. Counselling is like making an investment in ourselves that provides ongoing benefits for years to come.
Counselling provides a safe place where you can talk candidly about your concerns, set goals for personal growth and explore options without judgment or criticism. Fran offers a flexible approach to sessions and can arrange appointments for daytime, after work, or evenings. She also offers a variety of settings so that you feel at ease. You may feel most comfortable in the privacy of her office, or you might prefer to walk and talk on a nature trail, the beach, or a park setting. This can help clients to feel more at ease than in a typical face-to-face office setting. Nature offers many ideal places to relax, connect with the beauty of the world around us, and recognize a bigger picture, that indeed we are a part of something much larger than ourselves.
For some, asking a counsellor for help with personal concerns can feel like admitting failure or some may worry that other family members will object. For others, making an appointment is something they never seem to get around to. As problems can take on a cyclical pattern, coping often becomes more and more difficult as the cycles become more and more frequent. It takes courage to pick up the phone and ask for an appointment. It is also the first step towards finding some relief and restoring the goodness in your life, which Fran believes everyone deserves.
Many people have found that counseling provides relief from unproductive patterns and offers tools that help to balance the load between our personal lives and work, revitalize relationships, and improve the quality of our lives. As we learn to take time for ourselves and to pay attention, we learn to listen to ourselves and others, discovering moments of insight, direction, clarity, healing and inspiration.
Help is close by. Call today for an appointment, and take the first step toward more fulfilling relationships and experiencing a more balanced life.
